Access control and induction status together
The most useful configuration ties access rights to induction and competency status. Someone whose site induction has expired does not get through the turnstile — which is a far more reliable control than a supervisor remembering.
Attendance you can actually pay from
Manual timesheets on a site with contractors and shift patterns are a reconciliation problem every month, and disputed hours are a slow drain on the relationship with your crew. Biometric attendance ends the argument because the record is not open to interpretation.
Works with the breathalyzer
This is where our two divisions meet. Mining Solutions supplies and calibrates fixed and turnstile-mounted breathalyzer units; Digitech installs and supports the access control around them. One supplier for the gate, one number to call when it stops working.
Note that biometric data is personal information under POPIA. We will help you set up the consent and retention practices that go with collecting it — most installations skip this and should not.

Does biometric attendance comply with POPIA?
It can, with the right consent, purpose limitation and retention practices in place. We cover this at setup. It is not legal advice — for a large workforce, have your attorney review the employee notice.
What happens during a power failure?
We specify battery backup as standard, and fail-safe or fail-secure behaviour depending on whether the door is an emergency exit. That decision is made at design, not afterwards.
Can it work at a remote site with no network?
Yes. Units buffer locally and sync when connectivity returns. For fully offline sites we configure scheduled sync instead.
