Dry Hire — Equipment Only

Rent the machine, supply your own qualified operator, and pay the lowest rate we offer.

What dry hire includes

  • The machine, delivered to site and collected at the end of the hire
  • Current service history and a pre-hire condition report signed by both parties
  • GPS tracking active for the duration of the hire
  • Plant all-risk insurance on the machine itself
  • Telephone support on operating and basic fault-finding

What you supply

  • A qualified operator holding a valid competency certificate for the machine
  • Fuel and daily consumables
  • Daily pre-use inspections and greasing per the operator handbook
  • Site induction for the machine and operator
  • Secure overnight storage on site

When dry hire is the right call

Dry hire suits contractors who already employ ticketed operators and want the lowest possible hourly cost. It also suits longer projects where a familiar operator on a familiar machine produces better output than a rotating crew.

If you do not have a certified operator available, or the site requires machine-specific competency you cannot cover, wet hire is safer and usually cheaper than the downtime and liability of running short.

Rates and terms

Dry hire is quoted per day, per week or per month, with transport quoted separately and stated up front. Rates vary by machine size and hire length — longer commitments carry better rates because our utilisation risk drops.

New clients are asked for a deposit or upfront payment on the first hire. Account terms are available once a payment history is established.

Questions we get asked

Straight answers

Do I need my own insurance for dry hire?

The machine itself is covered by our plant all-risk policy. You remain responsible for third-party liability arising from its operation on your site, and for damage caused by misuse or operating outside the machine's rated capacity. We set this out in writing before the machine leaves our yard.

What happens if the machine breaks down?

Mechanical breakdown that is not caused by misuse is our problem, not yours. Hire charges stop from the point of breakdown until the machine is working again, and we will arrange a replacement where one is available.

Can I hire for a single day?

Yes. Daily rates are available for spot jobs and breakdown cover, though transport cost makes very short hires less economical over long distances. Tell us the job and we will be honest about whether it is worth it.

Need a machine on site this week?

Tell us the job, the town and the dates. We will come back with a rate — not a runaround.
